Ethics and Love

ETHICS AND LOVE
• It is love and the worthiness to love and be loved which forms the most distinctive feature of the human personality.
• Love does not merely aim at qualities; one does not love qualities. Love at the deepest reality, the most substantial hidden existing reality in the beloved – a metaphysical center, deeper than all the qualities and essences which one can discover and enumerate in the beloved.
• Ethics means the doing of good and the practice of virtue, to us those should all be motivated by love.

Love of Self and Others
• The first law of nature is self-preservation which means self-love.
• As Fulton Sheen puts it, “there are only two words in the vocabulary of love; you and forever.

Ethics and Justice
Justice – is a moral virtue which comes as a fruit of the constant and proper observance of rights and duties.
Injustice – is the imposition of wrong on another; it also means the violation of the rights of another or others.

2 Essential attitudes of Justice
1. Universality – is an element of justice which requires that justice be applied to all, and not merely to a particular group or class;
2. Equality – is a fundamental principle of justice which demands that justice is for all regardless of station or quality. In life.

Considerations of the Ten Commandments
1. The first commandment, love God above all, is a dictate of p[lain justice. For God is our Lord, Creator, and All, and to love Him fully is to give Him His due.
2. Respect and love of parents is likewise a precept of justice and the golden rule.
3. Killing, lying, stealing, bearing false witness, adultery and all their forms are violations of the rule of justice.

The following legal maxims as re-statements or applications of this same principle, as may be seen by mere inspection:
1. No one can exercise his rights in violation of the rights of others.
2. Whoever receives the benefit must bear the burden.
3. No man is responsible for that which is beyond his control.
4. No one should unjustly favor himself at the expense of another.
5. No judgment shall be rendered against anyone else unless he has been heard.

General application of Justice
1. Distributive Justice
- regulates the exercise of rights between the state and its citizen.
2. Legal Justice
- regulates the exercise of rights of an individual to return his duties to the state.
3. Commutative Justice
- regulates the exercise of rights between man and man.

Particular Application of Justice
Duties of Justice
- follows from the principle of love and justice that is wrong to do anything that is harmful to the body, reputation and property of others.

Rights of an Individual
Self Defense
- an inalienable right to life which includes defense from an unjust aggressor.

Under certain conditions, it is morally justified to kill as unjust people or aggressor in self defense:
a. the attack is unjustly
b. the attack is serious in nature
c. the defense must be simultaneous to the attack
d. the means employed are reasonable
e. the end of the defender is honest

Honor and Good Name
Honor is one of the greatest possession of man but any deliberate act that intends to destroy the good reputation of a person contributes a grievous violation of the moral law.

Truthfulness
Moral truth is the conformity between what one says and what one has in mind. A lies is telling an untruth, telling what is not in ones mind.

Mental reservation
It is the making a statement which would seem a lie without proper qualification but would be a lie with the proper qualification reserved in ones mind.

Love has its broader meaning… some people says “I love you because I need you” and “I need you because I love you”. Love doesn’t merely aim at qualities; one does not love qualities; True love says “I love you because you are the embodiment of all the good, the noblest and the best. It is you that is the object of love. If men really love, they would do no evil. Ethics has a relationship about love, let say for an instance sometimes we had been scolded by our parents due to the wrong actions that we had done. It doesn’t mean they don’t love us instead they want us to learn because they love us and not to do things that are not good for us.

Loving God is also our duty because we are attached to Him. It is the submission of our mind and heart to what is God and to what He is saying to us. Through prayers we are communicating with Him and through the Bible He is communicating with us. We should love also our neighbors, it must start from ourselves, if we don’t know how to love ourselves we don’t know how to love others. If someone did bad to you give what is due to him. “Kung binato ka ng bato batuhin mo ng tinapay”. We should love even our enemies. If God knows how to forgive who else us we are only human we should forgive also.

Suicide is morally wrong because it is the violation to the law of God and the law of nature. Who alone has the supreme domination over life and death. Man is not the absolute owner of his life; he just borrowed it and so has no right to dispose of it a he will therefore love is the greatest of all it goes through the individual where love exists.

Love is an emotion that is felt by everyone and to love and be love is the self achievement of man. For everyone wants to be love and no one wants to be alone because no man is an island. I believe that no one can live without someone to hold, to care and to love.

Love of God and love of neighbor is necessary for us to achieve peace and harmony in our life. We also have to love ourselves first before we can love anyone.

As I have learned ethics is the science of human acts with reference to right and wrong. Eventhough we have to love and be love, we must still consider ethics. For example, if we love someone he/she must be single and he/she must not married to anyone because we can hurt other people’s feelings. What if they already have a child, we might destroy the future of the child just because of love. We must still consider other aspect aside from love.

One of the greatest gift that God have given to us is the feeling of being in love and to be love. There is the love of our family, our neighbors, friend, the people in the society and the love for our partner, but the most important is the love for ourselves. We have to love ourselves first, before we can give and share love with others. But ofcourse this feeling have so much responsibility, because love is never selfish, we should not just think for our own sake, we should just think of what we want instead we have to consider the feelings of the one we love, we have to know what they want and what makes them happy.

Sometimes we do bad things because of love, but that is a wrong reason, if you hurt the one you love and said that you did that because you love him that is not true, the true is just being selfish and have love yourself. We should always know that love is to give and not to hurt. And that’s why we are still here, because God love us and He want us to share that love to others.

It’s love, its love that makes the world go round. If love is always in our heart, there will be no evil acts, there will be no wrong doings and there will be no greedy in the world. We must have done things with the spirit of love.

There is a law that man should love his neighbor but before we can love our neighbor we must know how to love ourselves because if we do not know how to love yourself I don’t think so, you know the real meaning of love.

Sometimes because of love we become selfish, specially when we love ourselves too much, we become selfish in a way that we want only the things that benefit us and we do not consider the others, wherein our acts we hurt others unconsciously.

Love…love…love…How can I defined love if I myself doesn’t experienced to fall in love and have true love? Yes, I know how to love because I love my family, friends and all the people around me. But admittedly, at my age (20 years old) I don’t yet experienced to fall in love with my opposite sex. I believed that time will come I will experience it. And only God knows when it will happen and if that time comes I will appreciate it and learn to understand it.

Love has many meanings. Others says it is undefined, sacrifice and blind. Eventhough it had meaning I am sure that I can defined it when the time I experienced it.

Love is like a four faced statue because there are many faces of love. Love for our country, for neighbors, ourselves and of course GOD.

if we try to relate love into the different classificationj of justice as stated in the post we can say that we, all people living in this world must have the responsibilty to respect and love and to be loved and respected for we constitute the YOU in the two vocabulary of love and the process is the FOREVER.

The Notion of Fair Distribution
WE say that Distributive Justice is concerned with the duties of the state to irs citizen.
And thay are the one who do the allocation of the resources for the people. These goods can be distributed in three different ways:
EQUALITY - giving equal share to the people.
EQUITY - giving what is the right amount for the people.
NEED - givig to the people who are in need of the good.

Take for example that i(teacher) have a dozen of donuts and i want to give it to my two groups of students, where one is consists of two persons and the other is four.
If i follow the equality it is like giving six donuts per group.
if i follow Equity, it is like giving Two pieces each member.
if i follow needs, considering one group is does not like donuts. i will give the donuts to the other group that likes donuts.
which do think is considered that is fair share among the three?

What the world needs now?

Love is everything. We keep on going because we know we love. Our most superficial needs, deepest dreams, wildest desires and even our hatest enemies are described by the various forms of love.

Everything must begin with love, from the needs of the poor, going to the international wars to the most coveted world peace. Love hitches every single goodness the humanity could think of, from it stems sharing, concern, respect, giving, sympathy, unity , humility, and willingness---to volunteer for good and to sacrifice for others. However, overlooking and mismanagement of its power generates selfishness, the main culprit of division. Thus, ending intimacy and life's most intricate design of friendship, marriage, brotherhood and so on.

Today, the world has a huge stab that is needed to be patched not by anything but by our faith to have love. That's why we still have to work and grow up. We don't merely need love that wafts and drives us to insanity, but true and pure love that could recognize and consider. It is the fuel of humanity and as long as we have few of it inside our hearts, we still have a wonderful hope. We just have to keep that fire burning and begin lighting each other's heart. It's actually our ultimate goal---living as we are loving.

LOVE! it's what the world needs now.

The ten commandments was reduced in two: love of God and love of neighbor. From the very beginning of this world there is love that exists.Notice that God has created us and redeemed us from our sinstruely because He loves us. Love itself became noble and true if it follows the standards of morality and conforms with its limitations. It is the nature of man to love himself but loving too much without considering the sake of others is not good. To love truely is to love without asking something in return and giving it with sincerity as God The center.

“Our prime purpose in life is to love others. If you can’t love them, at least try not to hurt them”
–a text message from a fiend–

The bible tells us to love God and to love our neighbors/ the people around us. In this case, we could say that Ethics is related to love. Ethics is associated with morality and the basis of morality is the Divine Law. The Divine law wants us to love others. Love really is an important need of man. We need this for our existence. And it is powerful enough that it enables individual to enjoy life. The level of our love differs from person to person and it has also different kinds. Our love to our friends differs to our love for our family. Same with our classmates and love partner.

being loved by others give us happy feelings, so we should show love to others too. There are a lot of ways on how we can show our love to the people around us. Simple way is by not hurting them.

Finally, if we want to achieve happiness and harmony in the society, we should love each other. In that manner, we are obeying what God wants us to so. We are doing then the will of God.

LOVE for me is a vast word to be described..
and there are three types of love..
the filial love - which means the love that we frrl or our friends including our neighbors..

the erros - the sweetest love.. the passion that we feel for our love one particularly our partners in life..

agape - the genuine love.. we give love without expecting something in return..

we express our emotions through action.. and the way you think determines the way you feel and the way you feel influences the way you act...

Love should possess by every one of us so that there would be harmonious relationship in this world. Love is related to ethics because if there is love in every one of us we don't do things that will hurt them and this Love is the greatest gift of God to us. Then I can say that love is everything.
